Day at the Sunshine Coast - Oct. 30

It was a sad start to the day as our first item on the agenda was to take Jacelyn to the airport for her return trip home. That now left us 'amigo-less', as Shelley left us earlier and Jacelyn left us today. Time for an intervention, so Tania and Gary both took the day off work and drove us up the Sunshine Coast to visit a few of their favourite spots.

Our first visit was to Caloundra, a very pretty ocean resort town where Tania's family spent a lot of their holidays at. In fact, they are all gathering there again this year for their New Year's holidays. We went up to the unit that Tania and Gary will be staying in.... a beautiful new condo building with units up for sale....yes, we were tempted to put an offer in on a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with ocean views!!! For only $479,000AUS - a steal of a deal for the area! After a walk around town and along the beach, we then made our way further up the coast to Mooloolaba. Another perfect little beach town, with a very impressive beach/board walk and seaside promenade of shops and restaurants. We had a massive seafood lunch at the Surf Club, although we almost didn't get in as Don was not appropriately attired (showing off to much of his massive biceps!). After he put on a more conservative shirt, we managed to talk our way in. (even though a young girl ahead of us got in wearing a bikini with some kind of FlashDance cover up). We snagged a table right at the front overlooking the beach and ocean....they really know how to live down here.

After lunch, we went for a short walk along the promenade and then Adelle and Don did a longer walk along the ocean boardwalk. Ended up at another beach which was popular with surfers. We say every turn brings another postcard picture. Along the beach in Mooloolaba is the "Best Caravan Park in the World" - or that's what they say and we agree! It couldn't get better waking up looking out over the ocean, but they are packed in there like sardines.

Ended the day with a dip in the pool and then out for pizza and beer. This has all gone by way too fast for us!

  1. WOW!
You poor suckers have to come back to a pretty dreary looking city. We were in Saskatoon today and I think you may notice the difference on your return.
And the picture of your lunch had me drooling on my keyboard.

  2. Darn....we were hoping for a heat wave to hit S'toon around 1pm on Sunday. Where's that global warming when you really want it?

Yes, we decided afterwards that we definitely could've shared our lunch between us and even with the table next to us!!
